Welcome to Walhalla Elementary

Grades: 4k-5
Enrollment: appx 600

Walhalla Elementary School is helping all students develop the world class skills and life characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing high quality teaching and a challenging curriculum where all students can be successful.

The mission of Walhalla Elementary School is to create a culture in which all students can learn and all students believe they will succeed. Our mission statement is embedded in the fundamental belief that ALL of our students have the ability to learn no matter what that looks like. Our teachers are engaged in learning new strategies to use in the classroom such as: literacy and writing instruction, small group guided reading, small group math instruction, and differentiated instruction to meet individual student needs. As we have achieved our 1:1 classroom technology status, our teachers continue to effectively implement instructional technology.  We continuously use assessment data as progress monitoring tools to help challenge each student at appropriate levels.  Teachers closely monitor student growth and adjust teaching strategies to meet every student’s needs. At Walhalla Elementary we also focus on non-academic programs that grow the whole child.  Our guidance counselor teaches monthly guidance lessons using the Chick-fil-A Core Essentials Character Education Program.  In addition, we continue to implement the Positive Behavior Interventions and Support Program (PBIS) school-wide.  This program rewards students for exhibiting positive behaviors.

Students at Walhalla Elementary School have opportunities outside of the regular school day.  Students can participate in various after school activities such as Steam Team/Lego League, Art Squad, Running Club, Student Council, Musicals, and Chorus. In addition, our Parent-Teacher-Student-Team (PTST) and our School Improvement Council (SIC) supported many virtual and drive-thru community events. The PTST sponsored a Literacy Night, Carnival, and our Teacher Appreciation Week activities.  Our SIC supports Seasons Readings Nightand the Family Fun Run, all of which were virtual. Many other local businesses support our school throughout the year.

Walhalla Elementary School has numerous accomplishments to be proud of.  These accomplishments are possible because of the dedication of our staff, students and families. We will continue to work together to ensure that our school is a place Where ALL students can learn and will be successful.
